- sea drift, Irish casair, a shower, Early Irish casair, hail, Welsh cesair (do.), Breton kazerc'h (do.), *kassri-, *kad-tri-; from root cad as in Latin cado, fall. The Irish and Gaelic (?) casáir, phosphorescence, seems to be the same word.
